Viagra – Visiting Your Doctor or Buying On-line? When you decide that Viagra may hold the answer to your erectile dysfunction (ED) problem, where do you get it? True, Viagra is a prescription medication, which means you have to visit your doctor, but you’ve also heard that you can buy it from certain online vendors without a formal prescription and at a lower price than you will pay at a local pharmacy. Which way should you go? First, you should understand that there are excellent reasons why Viagra is a prescription drug instead of an over-the counter medication. While it is suitable for most men with ED, there are those for whom Viagra is not recommended, and it takes a doctor to determine if you are one of them. If, for example, you have certain medical conditions not directly related to ED, or if you are taking some medications that influence how Viagra functions, it may not be suitable for you. It takes a doctors exam and consultation to get the answers and make sure that Viagra is indeed suitable for you to take. Other impotence medications are available such as Levitra and cialis! As an example, men with severely reduced liver or kidney functions, cardiovascular risk factors, low blood pressure (hypotension), hereditary degenerative eye (retinal) disorders and those who have had a heart attack or stroke within the past six months, should not use Viagra. Moreover, if you are taking substances such as nitroglycerine for angina pain, nitric oxide donors or amyl nitrate, Viagra is contraindicated for you. One thing the doctor will do when you visit is determine your medical history to find out if Viagra is suitable for you. Finally, if Viagra is not an option in your case, it’s likely that its’ sister medications, Levitra and Cialis aren’t either, since they function about the same way in your body. As for online purchases, there are vendors who will ‘qualify’ you for Viagra or other PDE5 inhibitors based upon how you answer a simple questionnaire. There are others, too, who will offer you ‘generic Viagra’ which has not received FDA approval and is, therefore, technically illegal. There are also many reputable online clinics who also provide doctor consultations before prescribing Viagra. If you intend to buy on-line this should be your preferred route. The biggest concern you will face with an online purchase is the effectiveness and safety of the medication you get. In all fairness, there are completely legitimate ‘certified’ online suppliers who will sell you Viagra and sometimes with a slight cost advantage. But you will need a prescription from your doctor for them just like you do at your local pharmacy. And at the other end of the spectrum, you will also find vendors who want to sell you herbal substitutes with questionable effectiveness and safety risks as well. With Viagra, be certain you are buying the real thing! When all is said and done, it makes very good sense to take the traditional medical route of seeing your doctor, determining if Viagra is okay for you to use and purchasing it from a reliable pharmacy. Don’t take unnecessary risks with your good health and well being.
